As a non-profit with a far-reaching vision, Tacoma Goodwill wanted a facility that would be flexible for their organization and its programs to grow, while fostering sustainability and bolstering a heightened brand image. BCRA enthusiastically embraced this vision, and through diligence and teamwork was able to deliver a facility that exceeded their expectations in both programming and aesthetics, transforming the organization through community leadership and a recognized, embraced brand.
The facility combines the energy of youth organizations in the Tacoma area along with Tacoma Public Schools, Tacoma Community College and Bates Vocational Technical School in order to tackle the growing issue of young adults at risk. LEED Gold Certified, it also features the first vertical green wall in the United States, designed by French botanist and landscape artist Patrick Blanc. Goodwill’s brand elements were expressed through colorful entries and blade signage that gave a nod to its retail stores. Landscaping elements help define their corporation and exude their welcoming philosophy. BCRA also helped the client navigate though complex stakeholder involvement, and team dialogues helped maintain an efficient, comfortable process.

BCRA designed the 250 acre South
Kitsap Regional Park, which became
a first to pursue a Sustainable Sites
Initiative designation.
