One of the highest priorities during the design of the new 3rd Division Drive Barracks and Dining Facility for the U.S. Army Rangers at Joint Base Lewis-McChord was to create facilities that were comparable to local private sector facilities. Employing a ‘Northwest Contemporary’ style, buildings are clad in warm tones with split-faced concrete masonry (with ground-faced accents), pre-finished metal siding and metal roofing. Replacement of the existing substandard and aging facilities reduced both short- and long-term maintenance costs.
The Dining Facility provides 1,800 meals per day via a scramble style servery with multiple stations, several featuring exhibition cooking. High ceilings with clerestory glass at the servery allow natural light to flood the adjacent dining areas.
The Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing barracks accommodates 228 occupants and were designed to compete with nearby private sector apartments. BCRA’s design provided a high-quality residential community for the soldiers that offered modern amenities and design aesthetic, while respecting U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' strict budget requirements. In addition to the enhanced interior environment, the u-shaped barracks creates an attractive, enclosed courtyard with a landscaped seating area. The project received the Silver Design Excellence Award from the Society of American Military Engineers, (SAME), Seattle-Mount Tacoma Posts.

BCRA designed the 250 acre South
Kitsap Regional Park, which became
a first to pursue a Sustainable Sites
Initiative designation.
